Project Overview:
As part of a strategic modernization initiative, Petrotrin undertook a major upgrade of its Fluidised Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) at the 190,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Pointe-à-Pierre refinery. The project aimed to increase processing capacity and enhance fuel quality, enabling the production of greater volumes of low-sulfur gasoline with improved octane ratings—aligning with international environmental and fuel standards.
CADA’s Contribution:
CADA was engaged to support critical aspects of the FCCU upgrade through the provision of specialized industrial services. These included:
- Surface preparation and protective coatings for high-temperature and corrosive environments within the FCCU system
- Application of advanced linings and finishes to extend equipment life and ensure operational integrity
- On-site technical support and quality assurance to meet stringent refinery safety and performance standards
Project Impact:
- Increased throughput capacity of the FCCU
- Enhanced fuel quality, enabling the production of cleaner-burning, low-sulfur gasoline
- Improved operational efficiency and environmental compliance at one of the Caribbean’s most significant refining facilities
