Sustainable and Climate-Friendly Phase Out of Ozone Depleting Substance (SPODS)

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) Pilot Projects

Pilot projects have been developed across three key RAC sub-sectors:

  • Commercial air conditioning systems in government buildings
  • Industrial refrigeration systems in the fishing and industrial sectors
  • Commercial refrigeration systems in supermarkets within the private sector

Each pilot project identifies technical solutions and financial opportunities to guide future implementation. The overarching goal is to define effective mitigation actions that reduce the consumption of ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), while also lowering energy demand and associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The Gouyave Fish Market project has a Bait Room, a Blast Freezing Room, a Slow Freezing Storage Room, a Freezing Storage Room, a Cold Storage Room, and an Ice Machine, as well as customer areas.

A portable platform was also designed and constructed as a cost-effective alternative to conventional offshore infrastructure. This unit functions as a compact oil production and gas compression system, offering the same operational efficiency as traditional permanent platforms—yet with the added benefits of mobility, affordability, and feasibility for deployment in offshore locations.
