Carbon Asset Developer Associates LLC (CADA) is providing technical assistance to an 8(a) SDVOSB DBE design-build contractor for the fire protection system upgrade at Building 6 of the Milwaukee Soldiers Home Historic District, located on the grounds of the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. The historic structure, originally built in 1879 and 1890, sits on a project site of approximately 160,000 square feet.
Project Scope
The project involves replacing the existing dry-pipe sprinkler system, originally installed in 1953. The current system includes four separate fire services, each supplying a riser to one wing of the building.
- In heated areas, the outdated dry-pipe system is being replaced with a new wet-pipe sprinkler system.
- In unheated areas—such as attics and porches—a new dry-pipe sprinkler system is being installed.
- The existing incoming fire service piping and fire department connections are being retained and reused.
CADA’s Responsibilities
CADA is responsible for furnishing all:
- Equipment and materials
- Labor and installation
- System testing and commissioning
Additionally, CADA is overseeing all asbestos and lead-based paint testing and abatement to ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.
